Inspired by MasterMario’s post, in which he muses on buying a brand new 50 year old car, and our “configurator” posts, I put to you a question: Since you can build a ‘32 Ford brand new, right now (given enough money), how would you build it?
Would you build an historic variety, like the McGee highboy with a copper-head flathead and dual carbs? Would you go for a radical restomodded channeled hardtop with Mustang II IFS and an LS? More so than probably any other car, the ‘32 is a blank canvas - if you’ve got the money, honey, we’ve got your disease.
Funny thing - unless you go completely out of your mind, it would cost you less to build one of these exactly as you’d want it than many dream cars.
Me? Money no object, I’d probably go for Ardun heads on a flathead, sectioned rear fenders mounted floating up front only, modifed leaf front suspension, ‘40 Ford style rear, Lincoln front brakes, all on a Tudor sedan with the roof taken off. Lightly chopped windshield, paint it brown. Kind of a period highboy for four that’s dirt-roadable and not a phaeton... but that’s just me.

I’d just cheat and build a Factory Five rod. Probably the truck.

I’d love to build a 5 window like my dad’s old race car.

That is a perfectly okay solution, even a good one. Covers the bases, gets you something both usable and practical in kit form, and it isn’t even cookie-cutter/seen it like a fiberglass roadster.

just like the jet hot roadster...... awd v8 manual 6 speed......
and wide wheels all the way around.......
but i would sure be hard pressed to not body it like “the fastest car in the valley”.......

That’s some gluttony for punishment, but I can’t say you’re wrong either. And I did say unlimited budget, so those independent hallibrands are okay...

right now, i have been beating my head on the desk trying to figure out how i am going to make everything fit in the model T project. its “““BASICALLY””” the same thing......heh...... (except that i am going to use a hundred year old t frame, and some 4x4 axles. so far, i am trying to make everything “fit” around the frame. i am currently doing research and measurements on parts, so that i can make “precise” scale cutouts, and see if i can finagle them all around so that everything will fit. i have the feeling that i might have to make the driveshaft make a corner AROUND the engine..... still have to see for sure, and i have to get some precise measurements for a dana 44. i have a bad feeling that the pinion might want to get cozy with the frame corner..... exciting times right?......

Something like this. Definitely a roadster because I doubt that I’d fit in a coupe with a chopped top. An early hemi would be the engine of choice, but I’d leave off the logo painted on the grill, and in fact might go with a ‘34 grill.

That’s nice

I’d probably do something stupid like take the body in the picture you have here but with a hardtop, put a Ford 300 in it, put some beefy axles under it on leafs, and add a roll cage

A coupe that basically has the parts bill of a 74 pickup? I’m in.

Not a bad idea, as with an early hemi on the LA bellhousing you can plumb in a torqueflite and be done.

Yeah, it would end up being something like that body with an engine similar to this one I saw at a show with an Offy intake.

Hot Rod-ish - with a fuel injected big block.

Looks like the black car, but green color and wheels of the green car. ‘60s 4 speed and 289 with some type of brake upgrade.

I *am* a sucker for some Hilborn action.

A traditional hot rod for me.
Engine should be a nailhead, olds or Cadillac v8
traditional looking suspension maybe get rid of the leaf springs and use torsion bars.
fenders would be removable to change up the look.
quick change rear end for different ratios depending on usage
manual transmission
